Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our custom woodworking services, pricing, and process.

Answered

How long does a typical custom furniture project take? +

Timelines vary based on project complexity and our current workload. A simple coffee table might take 4-6 weeks from design approval to delivery, while a complete dining room suite could take 10-14 weeks. Full kitchen cabinet projects typically require 12-16 weeks. We'll provide a detailed timeline during the quoting phase and keep you updated throughout the process.

How much does custom woodworking cost? +

Pricing depends on materials, complexity, and labor. Our custom furniture typically starts around $2,400 for smaller pieces like side tables. Cabinetry projects begin around $5,000. We provide detailed quotes that break down material costs, labor, and timeline. We work within various budgets and can suggest alternatives if needed. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to schedule a consultation.

What wood species do you work with? +

We primarily work with American hardwoods including walnut, oak, cherry, and maple. We can also work with exotic species upon request. Each wood has distinct characteristics—walnut offers rich dark tones, oak provides strength and grain visibility, cherry ages beautifully to a deep reddish-brown, and maple offers durability and a clean, light appearance. We'll help you choose the right species for your project and budget.

Do you work with existing furniture or just create new pieces? +

We do both! Custom new pieces are our specialty, but we're also skilled at furniture restoration and modification. Whether you have an heirloom piece that needs repair, want to modify existing furniture, or need parts replaced, we can help. We recommend bringing items to our workshop for assessment so we can provide an accurate quote for restoration work.

Where do you work? Do you serve my area? +

Our workshop is located in Nebraska City, NE. We primarily serve southeastern Nebraska and southwestern Iowa, including Lincoln, Omaha, Beatrice, and surrounding communities. For larger projects, we may travel further—reach out to discuss your location. Delivery and installation are included within our primary service area.

Can you work with designs I provide, or do you create your own? +

We're happy to work from your designs, photos, or sketches. However, many clients prefer our design expertise—we can create detailed drawings based on your ideas,尺寸 preferences, and functional needs. We bring technical knowledge about joinery, proportions, and ergonomics that helps create pieces that not only look great but work well in your space.

What kind of finish do you recommend? +

Finish recommendations depend on how the piece will be used. For dining tables that see daily use, we recommend conversion varnish or lacquer for durability. For coffee tables and occasional pieces, natural oil finishes offer warmth and are easy to repair. We discuss finish options during the design phase and provide samples so you can see exactly how the finish will look on your chosen wood.

Do you offer warranties on your work? +

We stand behind our craftsmanship. If any issues arise from our workmanship, we'll address them promptly. While we can't cover damage from misuse or normal wear, we're committed to ensuring your piece remains functional and beautiful for years to come. We also honor manufacturer warranties on any hardware or components we install.

How do I get started on a project? +

The first step is a conversation. Reach out through our contact page, call us at (402) 873-4500, or send an email. We'll discuss your project, answer initial questions, and if it seems like a good fit, schedule a consultation. There's no pressure—we'll simply explore what's possible and see if we're the right team for your project.

What payment methods do you accept? +

We accept personal and business checks, major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), cash for in-person payments, and bank transfers for larger projects. For custom projects, we typically require a 50% deposit to secure your spot and order materials, with the remaining balance due upon delivery and installation.
